YANA (You are not alone) women’s group is based at the mutual aid centre on Quebec Place and is run by co-founders Jenny , Wendy and khadija
They meet every Monday between 1 and 3pm and the group aims to create a safe and supportive environment where the members can share experiences , make new friends . enjoy activities and learn new skills.
Jenny told us
“We were all sad to find out that the christine Partington house had to close it’s doors to all the ladies and young ladies that it helped throughout the years. We had an amazing group that used to run on a Friday morning. we were both sad and concerned that the ladies now had nowhere to go for support and many may become isolated. Three active volunteers and members of the group got together and we have set up a new group at a different centre.
We think it’s important for ladies to have somewhere to go to socialise, have fun and get help when needed in a supportive ladies only space. Our aims are for them to grow in confidence, higher self-esteem, Learn new skills and make friends. We promote diversity and no lady is turned away.
Everyone is welcome. Some of the activities available are arts and crafts, baking and cooking, bringing skills you have to the group, pampering and courses run by other agencies. We would also be able to get involved in other events that are going on in and around Bolton. If anyone would like to join us please come along”
