Shoppers are being reminded in the run up to Christmas that free car parking is available in Bolton town centre.

Thousands of parking spaces are currently free of charge after 3pm on weekdays – as well as being free all weekend and on Bank Holidays.

Parking will also be free all day Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day.

Deane Road, the Octagon and Topp Way multi-storey car parks are operating the offer.

The free after 3pm initiative on weekdays will run until December 31 – it was introduced in October by Bolton Council for the festive season. The free weekend and bank holiday offer is ongoing.

Leader of Bolton Council, Councillor Cliff Morris, said: “We want to do our bit to help our residents in the run up to Christmas.

“It’s also the busiest time of year for retailers and we know that extending the free parking scheme on to weekdays during the festive period also helps them.”

On-street parking is also available in the town centre, and motorists are being reminded that they can pay for on-street parking with a credit or debit card via the RingGo service.

Motorists parking in an area displaying the RingGo sign (usually on the pay and display machine) just need to contact RingGo via the phone app, SMS, online or by telephone.
