TWO well-known bands will crown the opening of a new events portal that venue chiefs’ hope will put Bolton back on the entertainments map.
To officially launch the Bolton Live brand and website, renowned acts Scouting for Girls and From the Jam have been announced and will play a weekend of music in the 5,000 capacity Premier Suite at the Macron Stadium in August.
Bosses have created the new website, http://www.boltonlive.co.uk, to promote shows, concerts, exhibitions and sporting occasions at the venue which they hope will become a ‘one stop’ entertainment guide for people in the area and further afield to drive footfall to the town.
Damian Chadwick, venue controller at Bolton Whites Hotel which is fully integrated into the Macron Stadium, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for the venue and we needed to ensure we had a dedicated website to showcase the exiting plans we have in place. The space and flexibility we have with the Premier Suite means we can compete with Manchester and bring some of the very best acts and events to Bolton and by doing so we hope Bolton Live becomes synonymous with our high profile events and becomes a natural ‘go to’ guide.
“Scouting for Girls and From the Jam are two excellent coups to mark the launch of Bolton Live and it signals the type of calibre we want to bring to the hotel and Macron stadium. We are in further discussions with other groups and we hope to make several announcements in the very near future”
As well as bringing big events to Bolton, venue chiefs are keen to provide a springboard for up and coming talent in the area, particularly in music. It means local performers will be given the opportunity to feature as support acts to many high profile bands.
From the Jam will perform on Saturday, August 20 and Scouting for Girls will be on stage the Sunday 21 August.
Both events are being brought to the Macron Stadium by Solid Entertainments, and promoter Stephen Stanley, added: “It’s an absolute pleasure to be staging one day original live music festivals within the exceptional facilities at the hotel and Macron Stadium.
“The venue has such superb access with its own railway station, and direct access from motorway links, surrounded by a choice of accommodation with hotels and lodges.
“Music fans both local and from all over the UK will experience a diverse wealth of talent offered at exceptional value for money ticket prices, especially for the early bird fans”
The venue has also teamed up with Bolton Live Community Group, who will provide social media and online coverage of each Bolton Live event.
Chairman of the group, Pete Hopkinson, admits he is excited by the link-up and feels the town can only benefit from the new venture. He said: “We are really excited to be working with the Bolton Whites Hotel and Macron Stadium team for Bolton Live.
“We see Bolton Live as the perfect opportunity to help bring not only international talent to our town but also help the development of up and coming local talent.”
Early bird tickets for the music shows costs £21 per event and they go on sale this Saturday, March 10th.
