A £266K scheme to improve Spa Road, in Bolton town centre will start on Saturday, April 2.

The resurfacing work is part of Bolton Council’s borough-wide road maintenance programme.

The whole length of Spa Road will be resurfaced, from its junction with Park Road to its junction with Moor Lane.

And in an effort to minimise disruption, the main resurfacing will be undertaken over three weekends (April 2 and 3, April 9 and 10, and April 16 and 17).

To enable this to take place safely, Spa Road will be closed and signed diversions will be in place. Spa Road will be open at all other times although temporary traffic signals may be in operation.

Residents and businesses will be able to access their properties during the work and have been informed of the plans.

Bolton Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, Councillor David Chadwick, said: “Spa Road is an essential town centre link road and in need of improvement.

“While every effort will be made to minimise disruption, we understand that this work will cause disruption.

“I would like to thank residents, motorists and businesses for their patience and co-operation, and apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.”
