Bolton Council will be putting on a firework display and lighting beacons to celebrate the 90th birthday of Her Majesty the Queen.
The council will be organising a spectacular firework display on Spa Road Playing Fields at Queens Park on Thursday April 21 at 8.30pm to mark the historic occasion.
The official viewing area for the display will be the playing field off Spa Road, however the display is an all aerial spectacular and so the display will be visible from locations right across the borough.
Parking is available at town centre car parks for those attending on the night.
The fireworks will include the colours of the Union Flag — red, white and blue — in a patriotic tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.
Councillor Carole Swarbrick, Mayor of Bolton said: “We hope that residents of Bolton will join us to celebrate the Queen’s birthday and either watch one of the beacons being switched on, or view the fantastic fireworks.
However, those who don’t want to venture out will be able to see the amazing display from many areas in the borough.”
The council will also respond to a request from the Queen’s Pageant Master by lighting two beacons — one in Horrocks Wood car park off Scout Road and another at USN Bolton Arena. The beacons will be lit at 8.30pm.
