As many of you know the lovely Carole normally does our food reviews but when the invite for Beef & Pudding`s second Birthday bash hit the inbox and knowing full well Carole is a vegan i quickly bagsied it (yes i know that term is very immature but we are all big kids at heart at BL)
Myself and Chris dutifully boarded a train to Manchester and headed up to Salford Central.
After a quick walk and being sidetracked by an old friend (Good ol` Sarah Talylor , she is ace) we arrive at Beef & Pudding and within seconds were handed a Glass of Vimto and Champagne (To get us going) We were seated extremely quickly considering the place was packed to the rafters
The ambience of the place was amazing and the team seemed very well prepared for the night and food was coming out smoothly. There was a musician playing (if anyone knows his name please get in touch) who`s renditions of some classic Manchester hits kept the atmosphere going.
We were presented really quickly with a Beef and Chicken suet pudding with crispy bacon , fried egg and a handmade speciality curry sauce. The dish itself was very well presented and put together. The suet pudding itself had just enough bite without being too hard and the filling was totally luxurious and the curry sauce was very very well balanced and Chris and myself literally inhaled it very very quickly!
At this point it would be rude not to mention the plethora of different types of Bloody Mary`s on offer as the night was sponsored by Kettle One Vodka. My fave just had to be the Beetroot and Kale
(In my defence my Doctor has told me that i do need my five a day so i am kind of hoping that the Bloody Mary counts… after all Beetroot and Kale are superfoods aren`t they?)
A few minutes later myself and Chris were presented with this amazing taster plate and i have to say..it tastes as good as it looks! The eggs Benedict was my personal fave with its very velvety sauce i was also very partial to the beef hash cakes and the locally source black pudding. Chris devoured the smoked Salmon within seconds.
Even though Beef & Pudding is open daily they also do specialist events.
The next event at Beef & Pudding – ‘Allcock & Beef – the steak are high’ is very nearly sold out
For one night only Celebrity Chef and New Moon Co Chef Patron, David Mooney, goes head to head with rising culinary star and guest chef James Allcock for a night of northern meaty goodness; the steaks indeed will be high.
It is 100% an event i am looking forward to (Will be booking my tickets shortly)
All in all Beef &Pudding not only know good food but they know how to throw one hell of a birthday bash!
