GMP Bury raid

Police are appealing for witnesses after robbers raided a newsagent shop in Bury.

Shortly before 10.30pm on Monday 11 April 2016 two men, one armed with a knife, entered the shop on Wash Lane and hit the male shop assistant in the face with the handle of the knife.

The victim fell to the floor and the thieves stole cash from the till and cigarettes from the display, along with two bottles of vodka, before fleeing down Willow Street.

The man with the knife was wearing a powder blue puffa jacket with the hood up, dark combat trousers smeared with paint and a scarf covering the lower part of his face.

The other man was wearing dark clothing.

Detective Constable Dave Potter of Bury division said: “The victim was attacked whilst he was just doing his job and received a broken nose.

“We have released CCTV images of men we want to speak to and, although they aren’t clear, someone may recognise the clothing they are wearing.

“I would urge anyone that may have seen a two of men acting suspiciously at the time of the robbery to contact the police immediately.”

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 8155 of the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
