Retail giant Aldi is returning for the second year running as the headline sponsor of Bolton Food and Drink Festival.
The supermarket retailer joined the festival family for the first time last year, and proved to be a hit with festival goers.
Bolton Council is also pleased to announce that the University of Bolton has joined the line-up as a main sponsor.
Other main sponsors also signed up are The Market Place Shopping Centre and Stateside Foods.
All the sponsors provide funding towards the costs of staging the festival, which has established itself as one of the best in the UK.
The four day foodie spectacular, organised by Bolton Council, is now in its 11th year and will take place from Friday, August 26 to Monday, August 29.
The annual event will see celebrity chefs delivering cookery demonstrations in the town centre, amid a backdrop of artisan food stalls, children’s activities and free street entertainment.
Bolton Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Cllr Akhtar Zaman, said: “We’re delighted to have such an excellent line-up of sponsors hosting our festival.
“Aldi returning as a headline sponsor is a real show of confidence in the event and Bolton, and the University coming on board is a great addition.
“We are thankful for the support of all of our sponsors and partners who all help to make the event a success.
“We will be announcing our celebrity chef line-up very soon. Also each year we try and do something a bit different with the event, and behind the scenes our festival team is working away to make sure it’s another festival to remember.”
Aldi said their support was the perfect way to continue the investment they are making in Bolton and the region.
Aldi Regional Managing Director, Ruth Doyle, said: “The Bolton Food and Drink Festival is a celebration of quality local produce and suppliers, and we are delighted to be the headline sponsor of this event for a second year.
“This sponsorship builds on the investment and growth we are making in the town and the region, with our new distribution centre, as well as the further four stores we plan to open in the Bolton area.
“The council has some exciting things planned for the festival, and we are looking forward to seeing the quality and variety of food and drink that Bolton has to offer, as well as showcasing our own ‘Specially Selected’ range of some of the best organic and British produce.
“We hope our presence at the festival will establish Aldi further within the local community.”
Vice Chancellor of University of Bolton, Professor George E. Holmes DL, added: “We are delighted to be a proud sponsor of this fabulous festival. This year we will be celebrating our role in our town, showcasing the talent and achievements of students, staff and university partners.”
Market Place Shopping Centre manager, Nikki Wilson-Cook, said: “We are over the moon that Market Place is a main sponsor for the festival.
“With the recent opening of our fabulous Vaults, the town now has a stunning destination to enjoy our extended food and drink offering, under the dramatic, historic and very atmospheric Victorian arched vaults.
“We hope it will become a natural venue for everyone in the town to get together to meet, eat, drink and celebrate in our bars and restaurants, not just during the festival, but all year around.”
Managing Director of Stateside Foods, Jon Lucas, said: “As a large, local employer, Stateside Foods are delighted to be working alongside Bolton Council for the fourth year running, helping to promote all that is great and good about both food and Bolton itself.
“The excellence and variety of food that the festival promotes, mirrors our values as a world-class, leading chilled pizza manufacturer and we look forward to celebrating this with the people of Bolton.”
Partners this year include: Arts Council; Bolton College; Bolton Market; KRO; Octagon Theatre; Slattery, and Worsley Park Marriott Hotel and Country Club.
