Seats up for election

 There are 20 seats up for election, although one of these is vacant in Hulton, where Councillor Alan Walsh passed away earlier this year.

 There are 98 candidates contesting the 20 Bolton Council seats: 20 Conservative; 20 Labour; 20 Liberal Democrat; 20 UKIP; 17 Green Party; 1 Independent.

 Seats up for election this year are 14 Labour, 5 Conservative (including Hulton) and 1 Liberal Democrat. Defending

 Among those defending seats this year are: Leader of Bolton Council, Cliff Morris; Cabinet Member for Adult Services, Asif Ibrahim; Cabinet Member for Children’s Services and Schools, Ann Cunliffe and Leader of the Liberal Democrats, Roger Hayes
