The X-Men return – but can they save the Earth from their deadliest enemy yet?
Myself and Chris headed down to Cineworld Bolton at midnight to find out
So to the plot-
It’s ten years since the events of X-Men: Days of Future Past and the world faces an even greater threat when Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), the world’s very first mutant, reawakens after thousands of years. Disillusioned at the state of mankind, he assembles a team of powerful mutants, including Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Psylocke (Olivia Munn) and Angel (Ben Hardy), to help create a new world order. It’s up to Professor X (James McAvoy) and Raven (Jennifer Lawrence), as well as their team of young X-Men, to stop Apocalypse and save the world from destruction.
and the rest of the plot wise….. yup you guessed it!… that`s all you are getting!
So what did we think?
With his fourth movie director Director Bryan Singer returns to the franchise he launched in 2000 with the first X-Men movie as he takes James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence into the 1980s and has proved (yet again) that he is more than capable of handling the Marvel characters.
With some epic set scenes and some state of the art effects this film will appeal to not only comic book fans but also those who have only discovered the characters from the movie franchise. There are some great set piece comedy bits interspersed throughout and some great nods to not only the superhero genre but the original X-Men films as well.
Suffice to say the film has some critics and has split opinion across the board but the essence of the characters and the acting by the cast combined with some really well polished CGI more than made up for any minor detail issue for me and to be fair i was actually surprised at the quality of the film and the cast after reading the preview reviews.
If you are in the mood for something comic-booky and superhero-y then i suggest you get on down and watch it. It`s even better if you get a chance to watch it in 3d like we did!
