Week commencing 20 th June 2016
The aim of my blog is to allow people behind the scenes of my voluntary, charity, fundraising and community work. Everything you see within this blog is in addition to my full-time employment and working around my family life. I get so much from volunteering it is so rewarding and nothing can put money on making a difference in the community. Please read and share blog #17.

After last week’s be #LoveDoes http://www.facebook.com/lovedoesuk event there is no rest it’s just straight back on it for this coming Saturday’s #LoveDoes fun run and day as part of Kings Church (www.kingschurchlife.com ) I was allocated the fun day to organise alongside Mags Faulds who was a fantastic help through the organisation. This morning I created a large number of different signs to use at the fun day, went to work then in the evening I laminated all the signs ready for Saturday.
Although things can change this week I have compiled a list with all the volunteers and what roles they will cover at the event and also update the event plan.

This morning I met with Simon and Zoe from Street Soccer Academy to update them on the forthcoming summer event. There is still a lot of behind the scenes work to be done but it will all come together hopefully for an amazing day of fun for all the family.
Tonight Michael and I had the honour of attending the Kearsley Youth Brass Band concert with special guest Bastad Hornmusikk from Norway. I say it’s an honour because it truly is these young children provide such amazing music and tonight was outstanding talent from my home town of Kearsley and over the water in Norway.

Some time out from Bolton FM this evening but I will be back next week for my first out of the studio broadcast at the Bolton Business Expo which I am very excited about. Learning a new way of presenting away from the studio will be very interesting.

Met up the Fun Fair at the venue for my event on 16 th July at West Didsbury & Chorlton Football Club for the Celebrity Football Match and Family Fun Day
in aid of Street Soccer Academy http://www.streetsocceracademy.co.uk. It was great to get another look at the venue and looking at the potential of this event. Great discussion with the guys from the fun fair about what and where their rides will be situated.

Finally launched this year’s Kearsley Scarecrow Festival on facebook which is mega exciting because this year I know it will be bigger and better and will be run over two days. My amazing older brother yet again help with getting our poster/flyer/entry form completed. Follow www.facebook.com/events/805364802934348 to see what it’s all about. If you live or work in the area get involved by building us a scarecrow to go on display on Saturday 24 th and Sunday 25 th September. Last year we had 211 on display and we would love to double it for 2016.
At 9pm I dashed over to the other side of Bolton to start setting up for #LoveDoes fun day. Alongside a good group of doers we got the job done and was home by 11 laminating more signs for tomorrow’s event.

Well #LoveDoes hit Bolton for the second weekend running this time in the form of a 5k fun run at Leverhulme Park followed by a family fun day. I arrived on site at 9am after picking up a couple of volunteers. Volunteers began arriving over the next hour or so ready to get involved with setting up and then to serve for the rest of the day. This fun day was a little bit different than the norm, it was completely free. Giving out free tokens to children (and big kids too ) then could exchange them for a go of the coconut shy, a bounce on the bouncy castle, a chance to beat that goalie and loads more fun and free activities. We charge minimal price for food and refreshments and the money made from this will be donated to local charity BRASS. The day was a massive success and I couldn’t have done it without the army of volunteers in orange t-shirts. Please follow the work of #LoveDoes throughout the year being an outreach to the community and showing what love is all about.
At around 5pm my weekend dramatically changed, this evening I was supposed to be heading over to Charnock Richard to support my good friend Sara Harris at the Cardiac Smart Lifesavers Ball.
However my 33 week pregnant baby sister made my weekend take a different direction.
Sunday 26 th June 2016
After a long night at the hospital my sister welcomed her new born baby girl Phoebe Grace into the world at 11:55am weighing 4lb 14 oz. I am extremely proud of my sister for what she’s been through to get to this point of holding her baby girl in her arms (which was some 5 hours after she arrived). I am a very proud sister and delighted on the arrival of my new niece. So I’m sure you can forgive me that I did not work today other than write this blog.
