Written by award-winning playwright John Godber, September in the Rain is a nostalgic and heart-warming observational comedy.
After the success of their debut performance, where they raised £6,000 for ‘MAHDLO’ Oldham’s Youth Zone (sister club to Bolton Lads & Girls Club), Little Diamond Theatre Company are taking the play on tour. The theatre company was formed by Bolton actress Sarah Burrill. Sarah appeared in Colin Connor’s award winning play ‘Fighter’ at Bolton Octagon last year.
Steve Jackson, who played Janice Battersby`ss lodger and binman Trevor Dean in Coronation Street, stars alongside Sarah. They are directed by Andy Pope.
The play follows the life of miner Jack and his wife Liz on their annual holiday to Blackpool over the years. A true Northern love story. They laugh and bicker as they enjoy ice-cream, strolling along the prom and paddling in the sea. Knotted hankies, stripey deckchairs, pale bare legs and trips to the Tower Lounge conjure up a bygone era and the good old days.
If you fancy joining them for a giggle and a trip down memory lane, they will be performing at
Preston Guildhall Charter Theatre on Wednesday 6 th July, Manchester Dancehouse on
Thursday 14 th July (as part of the Greater Manchester Fringe Festival), or if you fancy a trip to the seaside, Rhyl Pavilion on Wednesday 20 th July, or Whitby Pavilion on 23 rd July
