A short blog this week but family is a priority in my life but still managed to fit in some charity work although most of my voluntary, charity, fundraising and community work was on a back burner. My blog is designed to show you what I get up to besides working full-time and juggling family life. Please read and share blog #18.

Monday 27th June 2016

This week I am reducing my voluntary/community work to spend time and give support to my sister and my tiny niece Phoebe. However I have a big event in the pipeline so all my free time this week will be committed towards finishing off the organisation of this event. For those who haven’t been reading my blogs my next fundraiser is a Celebrity Football Match and Family Fun day in aid of Street Soccer Academy www.streetsocceracademy.co.uk on Saturday 16th July at West Didsbury and Chorlton Football Club. www.facebook.com/events/854982074623851. This evening I made an application to Manchester Council in relation to a market licence to enable us to have market stalls at the event. This is the first time I have come across the market licence and therefore something new I have had to do for this event.

Tuesday 28th June 2016

To make an event a success you need to spend time in promoting and advertising the event. I have signed up the services of trusted Craig from The Lancs Leafleters www.facebook.com/lancsleafleters to deliver 5000 flyers to each home in the vicinity of the football club. I’ve already personally distributed flyers and posters to shops and schools near the Hardy Lane entrance. Today I spent some time posting the event on facebook pages in the local area.

Wednesday 29th June 2016

During the day I went and made some purchases for the two tombola stalls that I am putting together for the event. Tombola’s are a good fundraiser for any event but there is a total technique to holding a tombola stall to be able to make a good amount for the stall. If you want to know get in touch with me I am always happy to share my tips with other avid fundraisers.

I cancelled my voluntary role on Bolton FM this evening because I was at the hospital until late but I will be back next week so make sure you tune in from 7pm for #CommunityCorner.

Thursday 30th June 2016

After work I drove up to Chorlton and distributed posters and flyers to the majority of the shops on the main shopping street of Chorlton. I came across some lovely shopkeepers who were more than happy to help promote the event.

On my way back home from Chorlton I received a call from Bolton News in relation to Kearsley in Bloom. Now most of the project is completed apart from the competition they want to write a overview of the work we have done in Kearsley. I spoke with Rosalind for some time and informed her of all the things the team have put together to bring something beautiful to the area in which we live. www.facebook.com/KearsleyInBloom/?fref=ts

After a quick hospital visit the final task of today was to compile a list of stall holders to submit for the Market Licence. To date we have 10 stall holders who will be selling a variety of goods on the day.

Friday 1st July 2016

My sister was discharged today so I went to collect her from the hospital and took her home. Gave her house a tidy up whilst my husband made her tea. So today was taken out of the equation other than answering facebook messages which I tend to get a large number on a daily basis.

I went to support a local fun day in Bolton and managed to have a catch up with some people I haven’t seen in a long while. Followed by a quick visit to Blackrod Scarecrow Festival who are in their 10th year to get some ideas for our 2nd Kearsley Scarecrow Festival in September. Sunday 3rd July 2016

Today was spent mainly working on the fun day aspect of the Street Soccer event it involved chasing up payments, insurances, booking forms. Following up enquiries and sending emails chasing up people who haven’t yet replied. Contacted all the stallholders to give them information about set-up on the day and I also starting to progress the floor plan for the event on the field which will take some time because it’s the first time that I have used this venue.
