Free teenage market sets up stall again

Bolton’s first ever Teenage Market was such a hit that it is to make a return in the autumn.

Young entrepreneurs and performers are being urged to sign up for the event, organised by Bolton Council.

It aims to give young people an opportunity to showcase their business ideas as well as their musical and dramatic talents.

The Teenage Market is a growing nationwide initiative set up by teenage brothers Joe and Tom Barratt in Stockport as a way to support local young people and transform town centres.

Anyone aged 13 to 25 is invited to take part in the market, which will be located on Victoria Square, Saturday, September 10 from 10am to 4pm. If you would like to take part call Steven on  01204 336824

The first event took place in the Love Your Local Market fortnight – a national campaign aimed at celebrating market culture across the UK and it was s huge success.

Leader of Bolton Council, Cllr Cliff Morris, said: “The inaugural Teenage Market was very popular so I am delighted that we can again give young people a free platform to showcase their business talents and creative skills.”

The market gives young people who might already be trading online a chance to trade in the town centre and get a feel for what it is like to work in a market environment.

Councillor Morris added: “Staff from our award winning Bolton Market will also be on hand to help and support them.”

Co-creator of The Teenage Market, Joe Barratt, added: “We are delighted that Bolton is giving young people a second chance to have a free platform to get their businesses off the ground and showcase their creative talents. It is fantastic news.”
