Following a successful early run to their new tour, the latest show from Liverpool based Physical Theatre company Tmesis Theatre takes to the road and heads to Salford next month.

Happy Hour is the latest offering from Tmesis Theatre which combines its trademark physicality with humour, music, and text from long-term collaborator Chris Fittock, to create a poignant, fast paced, comedy exploring our 21st Century obsession with happiness and success.

The new show follows a successful national tour for Tmesis in 2015 of That’s Amore, which won critical acclaim from The Guardian, describing it as ‘Like a Richard Curtis romcom reworked by DV8, glorious and full of heart’.

Happy Hour will run for two nights only at The Lowry Studio at Salford Quays on Thursday 24 November and Friday 25 November at 8.00pm, before the show continues its national tour until the end of the month.

The workers on Level Three are racing against the clock to reach their quota of Smiley Faces, but are they really happy enough? Can we learn to be happy? And can our emotions be bought and sold? The ‘happiness industry’ would have us think so…

Happy Hour is funny, highly engaging with a mix of characters everyone can relate to, performed by highly skilled performers and featuring a great selection of music as well as some beautiful original scores from composer Meike Holzmann.

Tmesis Theatre, is one of the UK’s leading physical theatre companies, with a reach that is national and international. The company produce and tour shows, deliver workshops and outreach work and run Liverpool’s annual international physical theatre festival, Physical Fest.

Over the past 10 years, Tmesis Theatre has developed a national and international reputation, receiving critical acclaim for their unique style of movement-based theatre as a company who create work that is accessible, engaging, entertaining and of the highest quality.

Elinor Randle, Artistic Director at Tmesis Theatre said: “I’m really excited about this new piece, the characters are hilarious and we are exploring some really interesting ideas about the darker side of the ‘Happiness Industry’ in a really playful and energetic way. It’s exciting to move towards more narrative and comedy, whilst still maintaining Tmesis’ trademark physicality. Expect a uniquely ‘happy’ hour!”

So get yourself along to see it – and make yourself happy for one hour, 10 mins…you know you deserve it!
