The countdown is on to this year’s all-star dazzling family pantomime at the Opera House, Manchester – Aladdin.
Benidorm, Loose Women and Coronation Street favourite, and star of the all-new Are You Being Served, Sherrie Hewson appears as the Genie of the Ring. Fresh from reprising his role as Pete Gifford in the new series of Cold Feet, one of Manchester’s best-loved actors John Thomson stars as the evil Abanazer. Pop star Ben Adams plays Aladdin with Opera House regular and one of the best Dames in the business Eric Potts playing the long-suffering Widow Twankey.
Aladdin – which is produced by First Family Entertainment – also stars Joe Speare as the Genie of the Lamp, Neil Henry as Wishee Washee and Claire-Marie Hall as Princess Jasmine.
With genies by the lamp-load, belly-busting comedy, chart-topping songs, bags of family fun, audience participation, pantoland’s biggest, boo-able baddie and, just maybe – a real flying carpet, Aladdin is the pantomime dreams are made of! Enter the cave of wonders, rub the magic lamp and be transported to a fun fairytale world.
Said Sherrie: “I am thrilled to be working for First Family playing Genie of the ring in this year’s pantomime Aladdin. I love the Manchester Opera House and have wonderful memories of Manchester and my time in Coronation Street. It’s going to be a wonderful Xmas time.”
Added John: “I always love coming to watch the Opera House’s annual panto, and had great fun playing Captain Hook in Peter Pan here in 2007 – so I’m thrilled to be playing Abanazer in this year’s show. Everyone knows the baddies get all the best lines so I’m looking forward to getting booed by all the boys and girls (and mums and dads!) of Manchester.”
Don’t miss this gem of a show!
