People from across Bolton are being encouraged to start thinking about a charity they believe deserves recognition, as Crompton Place Shopping Centre is gearing up to launch the search for its new ‘Charity of the Year’.
In May of 2016, Bolton Young Person’s Housing Scheme (BYPHS) was chosen as the charity to benefit from 12 months of fundraising in the centre after being nominated by shoppers and since then, all manner of activity has been taking place with more planned right up until Easter.
“We’ve had a fantastic year supporting BYPHS,” said Paula. “The team from the charity completed a static cycle and pedalled more than 200 miles without ever leaving the centre, we’ve donated a brilliant patchwork quilt celebrating the history of Bolton to them, and in October we played host to a spooktacular Halloween event with all money raised going to support the work they do with homeless young people across Bolton. We’ve also got a few more exciting activities lined up until the end of April.
“As our year with BYPHS draws to a close, we’re encouraging everyone to start thinking of a charity that deserves recognition and why. In the coming weeks, we will be launching the nomination process with a voting box appearing in the heart of the centre so shoppers can pop a note in with a name of the charity and why they should be our newest ‘Charity of the Year’.
“There are so many worthy causes across the town and we’re looking forward to seeing who gets put forward. It’s all set to be another great year of fundraising at Crompton Place.”
