Octagon Theatre Bolton opens submissions for REVEAL online

Octagon Theatre Bolton is looking for inventive pieces of work that present, explore and respond to new technologies and a variety of media.

Using words, images, performance, sound, animation, projection mapping, interactive art or installation, this is an exciting opportunity for artists to work with technology to create new art and have it showcased during the Octagon’s annual REVEAL Festival.

The REVEAL Festival is dedicated to providing a platform for new narratives and new voices, creating and showcasing art that is engaging and has something to say.

The successful pieces must come from original, fresh, high quality ideas and must be between 3 and 10 minutes long. Five submissions will be chosen to be a part of the REVEAL Festival during the Octagon’s 50th anniversary season. From installations and videos to stories told entirely through social media, we want to hear how innovative and creative ideas can engage our audiences in new ways. These pieces will be presented at the Octagon Theatre online or in one of the theatre’s spaces.

The five successful artists will be granted £500 each in order to make the work and will receive support from the Octagon team.

The REVEAL Festival is open to any artist over the age of 16, amateur or professional, with no limits on nationality of place of residence.

The deadline for submissions is 5pm on Fri 1 December 2017. Interviews will be held on Fri 15 December 2017 and can be by Skype.

Associate Producer, Deborah Dickinson, comments: “We want our audiences to have the opportunity to enjoy accessible creative and artistic digital work as well as live performance. This is a chance for artists and audiences to take risks together and find something new, inspiring and digital. We want to hear from new talent, as well as experienced artists, and we particularly want to hear from people whose voices are not often heard.”
