Bolton residents are warmly invited to take part in an exciting lantern making workshop! Here you’ll be shown how to make a beautiful lantern to represent your community group or company in our first Bolton Light Parade at this year’s Christmas Lights switch on that takes place on Thursday 16th November. The workshop is completely free and the fantastic lanterns that are made will be part of this new feature of the switch on event.

In the coming years they hope to grow the Light Parade into a standalone occasion, and your help and participation would be greatly appreciated at the start of this new wonderful celebration of our community. Below is a video of theNew Mills Lantern Parade which features similar kinds of creations.

They really hope you can go and join in the fun with some colleagues, friends or volunteers from you organisation or group.

  • The workshop is opposite Neoartists Gallery on the first floor of the Market Place Shopping Centre on Sunday 22nd October, between 1pm and 5pm.
