Willmott Dixon invites visitors to get behind the scenes on its Bolton projects

The construction company responsible for the Bolton Albert Hall refurbishment, Willmott Dixon, is inviting the public to see behind the hoardings at several of its Bolton projects as part of Open Doors Week 2018.

Visits can be organised to Willmott Dixon sites at Bolton Museum where it is carrying our major refurbishment and creating a new Egyptology gallery, as well as nearby Rumworth SEN School and Chorley New Road Primary School in Horwich

The Open Doors initiative is run by Build UK, the representative organisation for the national construction industry, and the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and is aimed at demystifying the construction process.

Taking place across the week of 19 – 24 March 2018, Open Doors Week allows members of the public to book slots and visit active development sites, providing an insight into the delivery of large-scale construction projects and the multitude of different roles that contribute to their success.

Willmott Dixon’s project teams at each site will be hosting visitors and providing guided tours, alongside activities that let children and adults get a sense of what it’s like to work in the construction industry.

Anthony Dillon, managing director of Willmott Dixon in the North, said: “We are delighted to be taking part in Open Doors again this year; it is a fantastic opportunity for people to get behind the scenes on construction sites and see what an interesting industry we work in. I am really pleased we have three sites opening in Bolton and hope local people will take the opportunity book a visit and come and learn more about the great career opportunities available in construction.”

Suzannah Nichol, Build UK Chief Executive, said: “Bookings are now open for Open Doors 2018, which is set to be another hugely successful event that Build UK is running in partnership with CITB for the third year in a row. It is a fantastic opportunity to have a closer look at some of the UK’s most exciting projects and experience what makes construction such a fantastic industry to be part of.”
