Review: Cub Tropicana

Club Tropicana The Musical by Michael Gyngell is landing on the Opera House Manchester stage from 3-8 June, From the off the thing that stood out to me as a musician was the Fantastic quality of the singing. Consuela, the hotel’s cleaner was a hilarious character that kept the tempo through the whole show.

It was energetic, powerful and had me and James up on our feet dancing on more than one occasion. There were back to back hits from the 80’s, classics that everyone remembers, and they created a perfect theme throughout the show. It was a mix of everything I love, my guilty pleasures, romance and awesome 80s music.

All in all it was a Brilliant cast, each of whom portrayed their roles perfectly! Headed by Joe McElderry (X Factor winner and star of Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat), Kate Robbins (Spitting Image, ITV’s The Imitation Game, Dinnerladies), Emily Tierney (Eugenius! , Wicked, The Wizard of Oz); and former Sugababe star Amelle Berrabah making her musical theatre debut.

Nye Rees stepped in at the last minute for Neil McDermott in the role of Robert, with no indication that he was understudy! Definitely get along to see this as soon as you can
