Bolton Food and Drink Festival traders unveiled

Food lovers are in for a treat when Bolton Food and Drink Festival returns this weekend with food, drink and gift market stalls set to take over the town centre.

The event, organised by Bolton Council in association with Aldi, is back for its 14th year from August 23 to 26.

The town centre will be the perfect place to visit with a market of 200 traders, four bars, and live music on two stages (the Festival Stage on Le Mans Crescent and the Acoustic Bar in Victoria Square).

The market will be in and around Victoria Square, Oxford Street, Market Street, Deansgate, Newport Street, and Hotel Street. Bars will be on Le Mans Crescent, Victoria Square and Deansgate.

Leader of Bolton Council, Cllr David Greenhalgh, said: “Only days to go now until the festival and it will be wonderful to welcome new traders as well as some of the long-running favourites.”

Market highlights

Markets open from 10am to 6pm Friday to Sunday (some stalls near the Festival stage on Le Mans Crescent, will close later), and 10am to 5pm on Monday. Seating areas will be spread around the site.

On Victoria Square, find event favourites, Bowland Pork, Beef and Lamb, The Garlic Farm, and What’s Your Beef. Brownies and cakes from 2016 Apprentice winner Alana Spencer, artisan gins from Howey Nichols and award-winning Lancashire cheeses from Cheese is Grate will also feature. Vegetarian Indian cuisine and Persian food will be on offer on Victoria Square north side. Find stonebaked pizzas, Greek and Thai street food, and Indian and Pakistani grill from Zouk on Victoria Square south side.

Newport Street will be home to more traders including Café Cannoli selling authentic traditional Sicilian cannoli, Bavarian pretzels, brownies and traders from Heaton Fold’s artisan market. Arts and crafts traders and the Arts Circle Marquee will be located on Newport Street

Oxford Street will host festival partners Carrs selling a range of products including a new festival vegan pasty and sausage roll. Pick up vintage cordials from Mr Fitzpatricks and those with a sweet tooth can enjoy a treat from the Game of Scones. Bolton Market traders Shima’s Rice ‘N’ Oodles and Fresh2Go will be located on Oxford Street.

Wander down to Deansgate and discover a world of oils, cakes, cheeses, puddings and pies. Located nearby on Market Street will be a mix of street food, chargrilled Oriental and Thai food, and popular regular trader Chipstix. Signature Textiles will also set up shop on Hotel Street.
