For The Love Of Horror 2021

The weekend of the 16th – 17th October saw Manchester’s BEC Area become host to the scary and macabre. Horror Fans from across the North West descended ‘For the Love of Horror’, a convention celebrating all things horror. Bolton Live were there – and afraid.

The guest stars included the likes of the Rocky Horror Cast – the most famous of course being Tim Curry who was available for photo opportunities all day. Other guests included Matthew Lillard, Skeet Ulrich and David Sheridan. On the main stage there were Q&As with Actors from the Scary Movie films, Rocky Horror and various individual actors. There were also several high energy flame throwing saxophone performances from Tim Capello – who featured in the film Lost Boys.

Alongside the stars, there were multiple photo opps at set builds such as Leatherface’s lair, Camp Crystal lake and various houses from the Halloween films. Like any convention, the cosplayers were out in force, some of the best can be seen in the video below. Even for people who’d never seen the films the cosplayers were referencing (like ourselves), the creativity and skill in creating the costumes was astounding.

There were also a large array of vendors and exhibitors selling everything from posters to replica weapons and a scare maze if anyone was brave enough to enter (we were definitely not!). Outside there were food vendors and a funfair ghost train if you wanted a slightly calmer type of scare.

Following both days there was a chance to socialise and party with other horror lovers – with even the chance that celebrity guests would be joining!

If For the Love of Horror sounded like your cup of tea, it will be happening again 22nd-23rd October 2022. You’ll even get another chance to see Tim Capello and his saxophone.

If horror isn’t your thing, Monopoly events are hosting Liverpool Comic Con on the 13th – 14th November 2021 with Guests including The Inbetweeners cast, Patrick Warburton, The Vampire Diaries Cast and Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley).

There’s also for the Love of Sci-Fi on the 4th-5th December 2021 featuring Millie Bobby Brown and Manchester Comic Con 30-31st July 2022 – guest announcements coming soon.
