Search for Bolton’s community heroes gets underway

An annual awards programme that celebrates some of Bolton’s most community-minded people has opened for nominations.

The Stars of the Community Awards, now in its 15th year, recognises outstanding volunteers who go out of their way to put others first, solve local problems, achieve new things, or lead by example.

There are nine categories this year which are: Sparkling Environment Star, Personal Achievement Star, Community Star, Outstanding Achievement Star, Spirit of Youth Star, Climate Change Star, Health and Wellbeing Star, Arcon Community Star and Taking a Stand Star.

Jon Lord, Group Chief Executive Officer of Bolton at Home, which runs the awards, said: “Stars of the Community has become one of the highlights in our calendar for the way it allows us give some well-deserved recognition to the many selfless people that make a difference to their communities.

“The awards shine a spotlight on individuals and groups, so we’d love people to get nominating those who they think are deserving of one of these awards.”

Full details of the 2022 Stars of the Community awards including category criteria, rules for entry and how to nominate can be found on the Bolton at Home website.

A prize of £100 is on offer for each award winner who will also receive a trophy at an awards ceremony in Bolton on Thursday 23 June 2022.
